The new proposed rules regarding the use of snares to trap coyotes allow anyone to illegally trap coyotes for any reason whatsoever. Even if the Ontario government has implemented legislation to prevent the indiscriminate use of homemade and INHUMANE snares, the Ontario government does not have the resources to pursue legal avenues to prevent the inhumane killing of coyotes. Consequently, I implore my government to disallow this amendment which will result in inhumane killings of coyotes and potentially domestic animals. Please refer to recommendations by Coyote Watch Canada on co-existence with coyotes and how to to ensure humane trapping and relocation and/or humane trapping and euthanasia in rare instances when co-existence cannot be achieved by other means.
