The time remaining to turn…

The time remaining to turn the climate ship around dwindles rapidly. The most recent, most widely accepted scientific assessment is 12 years before the increased risk of more violent storms, decreased arable land, shoreline devastation, devastating forest fire damage and consequent increased population migration pressure, property loss, and species extinction all become irreversible. This is not a time to substitute a plan that has proved workable in a number of environments including our own with a plan that has not even reached the drawing board stage. While the Ontario electorate did vote for a change in government, they did not vote for a platform that did not exist. They did not vote for the undoing of every bill passed by the previous government without some actual evidence that a better choice could be offered.

I am a senior citizen. I may not live to see the consequences of this seemingly vindictive legislation. My children and grandchildren will suffer the long term economic and physical hardship of the propose short term benefit to the wealthiest Ontarians today. That is in not way fair, no way "for the people."
