This comment supplements my earlier submission to support the proposed changes. I thought it was also important to note that we have purchased a duplex property in Toronto that we are adding a rental unit to. In addition we had planned to also add a Garden Suite that would serve as our residence - in turn creating rental accommodation in the two + one apartments in the existing building . However in considering the existing regulatory issues - we had decided to put this project on hold. In short, the restrictions placed on Garden Suites - unlike Laneway projects - would not allow us to maximize our investment. I strongly support the proposed changes that would allow us to build the Garden Suite that would suit our needs. We also believe that the limited uptake in Garden Suite permits would be changed - more people will be open to investing in these types of residential projects. By bringing the Garden Suite permit requirements more in line with the Laneway project requirements - people will be able to build what is most suitable to their specific property and their needs.
