The banning of using live bait (minnows & leeches) is uncalled for, particularly for the Englehart River Fine Sand Plain Waterway Provincial Park (ERFSPWPP). The majority of live bait used on/in the lake is harvested from local minnow traps. There is no risk of invasive from invasive species when the species are all trapped locally.

Banning live bait fishing on Long Lake (the major waterway in the ERFSPWPP) will absolutely destroy the local economy in the rural regions surrounding the waterway. The only industry in many of the local communities surrounding the ERFSPWPP is tourism mainly generated by camping, fishing and hunting in the region. The proposed strategy regarding bait management in Ontario will have devastating consequences on the local populations in Northern Ontario and should be scrapped outright if not, amended to provide exemptions to bodies of water that currently support the local populations economies.

This will be a major assault on the way of life to the people living in the area surrounding the Englehart River Fine Sand Plain Waterway Provincial Park and the local population will not abide it.
