More vehicle lanes does not reduce congestion. The only way out of congestion is viable alternatives to driving. If bike lanes cause congestion, highway 401 would have no congestion. Any anti-bike transportation policy is ill-researched.
True freedom is the ability to choose how you get around the city. If most of the city is built for cars, that's not freedom; you're forced to drive.
