Carbon pollution is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, threats to human life ever encountered. The Ontario government should be willing and ready to use any and every tool at its disposal to combat this threat. Economic and market-based tools such as cap-and-trade should be part of a wider effort to discourage excessive carbon emissions, and ultimately bring about a cultural shift in Canada that encourages sustainability. Dismantling Ontario's cap-and-trade system is a step backwards. It is a step away from sustainability and a step towards both economic and physical hardship. Cancellation of cap-and-trade is short-term gain for long-term pain. Do not cancel cap-and-trade.
