This bill should not be passed. Not only has there not been sufficient time for serious consultation, but the very nature and intent of the bill is retrogressive. It takes us backward, when we should be moving forward, actively, on climate change. We should be investing in renewable energy, supporting green renovations and a green economy. Instead of Ontario being behind in cutting emissions, we should be leaders in this vitally important effort. If the provincial government is going to eliminate cap and trade, it must implement a programme that improves on it, not simply short-term, in people's pockets, but for the long term, so that our children and grandchildren have a healthy planet on which to live.
