It is irresponsible to repeal the existing act without having a clear plan what to replace it with. Scientists are warning us that what we do today will make a life or death difference to millions around the world. It's selfish to only think about ourselves and foolish to think that we will not be impacted by the consequences of our own actions.
Past improvements to air quality, water quality and removal of hazardous materials and emissions (asbestos, lead, sulfur dioxide, etc) happened because the leaders at the time understood that short term pain results in long term gain. It is time to stop being selfish and irresponsible and take accountability for what we are doing to the environment. While no plan can ever be perfect, it is irresponsible to cancel an imperfect plan before a better one is put in place. We need a clear plan that leads towards us meeting our obligations under the Paris agreement, and our moral obligations to our fellow humans around the world.
For these reasons, I oppose the proposed cancelation.
