It is absolutely irresponsible to dismantle an established cap and trade program in Ontario. Humanity is not doing enough to limit our carbon emissions and polluters need to be guided to reductions through regulatory action not voluntary measures. The funds from cap and trade were funding greenhouse gas reductions and creating economic growth in the home renovation sector. The government will now be required to compensate companies who have purchased credits - now stranded assets - all these costs should be made publicly available. I strongly urge the Government of Ontario to reconsider their actions and not cancel cap and trade.
