I would like to start off by saying that Algoma steel already releases more chemicals than it should/aloud to into the atmosphere than it is suppose to. Most times I drive by the complex there is intense black smoke/ smog that covers the west end of town. By them applying to release even more chemicals than that is beyond unacceptable.

This company needs to be held accountable, the ministry of environment truly needs to reinforce the law and not only fine the company but shut them down with ministry orders until they truly reduce the pollution they release to at least the maximum permissible and less would be even better. I support the manufacturing of steel and we need companies that produce steel, but i believe there are limits and i know that they can do better than what they are doing now. That facility is very old and is in dire need of some upgrades.
