There is as always two sides to the global warming story. I think we must allow ourselves to be guided by the consequences of the decisions we make.

It seems to me that if the environmentalists are right, the consequences of inaction are profound - perhaps even catastrophic. On the other hand, if the environment sceptics are right and there is a cost to action that is unwarranted it seems to me that those costs can easily be handled.

It is like the decision to wear a helmet biking. The chances of injury from not wearing a helmet are small but so is the cost of putting on a helmet. But if an injury occurs, it can be catastrophic. The risk reward of wearing a helmet biking, like the risk reward of fastening your seat belt strongly argues for the prudent decision to wear the helmet, to fasten the seat belt.

It is the same with this environment debate. The cost of action small, the cost of inaction incalculable. The prudent decision, facing an unknown and the risk reward so strongly tilted towards action is to take strong action NOW!!!

I firmly believe that there will come a time when it will be clear that the vast majority of climate scientists are right and that the correct decision will be clear. When that happens the climate deniers will be few and far between.

Do the right thing NOW!!!
