Apparently Algoma steel is asking for exemptions to its emissions until the new furnace is completed (est 2029). Our cancer rates are extremely concerning.

I am vehemently opposed to this given the health risks to our community. These risks are unacceptable.

The Algoma district had an overall cancer incidence of tel:608/100000 in 2020 (the most current data from Cancercare Ontario); provincial average is tel:413/100000.
