Algoma Steel is currently not holding to environmental regulations. There are daily, and often hourly, emissions from the coke-making facility, producing black smoke clearly visible to residents of Sault Ste. Marie. Due to the carcinogens in these emissions and its negative impact on our health and the environment, I would ask that they be held accountable to the strictest standards both now and going forward as they transition to the electric arc facility.
