We live 45 kms north of the Algoma Steel Plant. Even here we can smell the steel making process if the winds are from that direction. Polluting the air, soil and water is no longer an option and the proposal will only increase the danger of irreversible climate and ecosystem damage. If steel cannot be produced following strict environmental standards, then it should not be produced at all, especially near populated areas. Fouling our environment is no longer an option.
