As someone whose well has repeatedly run dry over the past 5 years, I find it obscene that The Ministry of Environment Conservation and Parks is proposing an extension to the current moratorium on new or increasing permits to take groundwater to produce bottled water. Once again, our government is putting economic profit over the basic needs of the Canadian public whom they are allegedly supposed to represent. The access to clean drinking water should be an integral right of the Canadian people, not the right of American companies to financially profit in exchange for access by Canadians. I feel great despair about the repeatedly misguided decisions of our government, who seem to care more about the almighty economy, even it means depriving Canadians of clean, available water. How dare you!!
