Changes to the Moose Tag allocation process….
I have an issue with this policy change. if tags were issued in early spring (no real reason they are not), it gives hunters more time to prepare and plan for the fall hunt. what is happening is by the time you actually get the option for a tag every opportunity to use the tag has evaporated.
Since this new system has been in place twice, I have been offered tags in the second round only to find out everyone that originally committed to going has since committed to another group or event…
If you want hunters to make a commitment to claiming their tag, make a true commitment to the hunters!
Outfitters are all booked, by about the third week of April.
Let’s just get the whole application process over with in a much shorter time.
In what world does it take months to award tags in a nearly fully automated draw? When a deadline passes it should take all of about 15 minutes to notify everyone of the results.
It is a sorry reality that people have many options other than waiting for the MNR staff to get done their coffee…
Additionally
I do like the deadline for claiming the tag and the opportunity for someone else to acquire an unclaimed tag, although the real devil is always in the details. how fair / equitably / transparent this will be is not clear thus far
