The proposed Bill 212 could be pretty harmful to our infrastructure and city planning. Ford wants to get rid of bike lanes on major roads in Toronto, add more lanes, and even build a highway through sensitive natural areas—all while stepping on property rights for broadband and highway expansion.

A lot of studies show that just building more roads doesn’t actually fix traffic or congestion. It usually just leads to more gridlock, more cars on the road, more pollution, and more accidents.

What we really need are sustainable options like biking and a solid public transportation network connecting Toronto and the GTA, but it seems like the Ontario government isn’t focusing on that since it doesn’t benefit their short-term goals.

Cities built around cars aren’t good for anyone, even for those of us who drive. Look at major cities like London, New York, and Tokyo—they’ve invested heavily in public infrastructure, while we seem to be going backward.
