Natural gas only became an important energy source for home heating because it has been supported by government subsidies from the outset. This proposal flies in the face of the decision reached by the independent Ontario Energy Board in December 2023 (https://www.oeb.ca/sites/default/files/backgrounder-EGI-EB-2022-0200-20…) that these subsidies should end in order to support the transition to greener forms of energy.
The provincial government should not be in the business of using taxpayers dollars to unfairly subsidize Enbridge at the expense of green energy providers.
