I am commenting on the proposal for an interim combined sewer to support the development at 955 lake shore blvd (ontario place). I strongly oppose the proposal as it goes against decades of work by the city of Toronto to separate and replace combined sewers across the city to prevent the discharge of raw sewage into lake Ontario. This also flies in the face of international agreements to protect water quality and habitat in the Great lakes. It's completely embarrassing and disappointing that in a developed nation like Ontario, you would be interested in depositing effluent that puts human health at risk in terms of water quality at beaches, fishing, and the quality of a lake as an attraction for Canadian and international visitors. The province has not held any consultations about this work with the general public. This proposal benefits private sector initiatives and is not in the public interest. It threatens the stability of the lake ecosystem at a time of severe biodiversity loss and ecological damage. This permit must be denied.
