Endangered species are valuable in and of themselves - valuing short term profits gained from extracting minerals or other natural resources at the expense of endangered flora and fauna destroys the economic value of the endangered species. This value is not well understood, but should not be discounted because of a prolonged lack of insight and research. Climate change is a real and present danger and increasing mining and oil/gas/petroleum extraction will only hasten its effects and increase their severity. Endangered species depend on our protection - we need to keep that protection as strong as possible because losing it once means losing it FOREVER. For our children, grandchildren, and their children and grand-children, we must preserve natural resources even at our own expense.
Indigenous people are the stewards of the land and should not have their treaty rights to negotiation diminished by any provincial law.
