This bill strips the right to the history of Indigenous peoples by bypassing the proper procedures of assessment. This is a terrible bill in the matter of preserving traditional knowledge and history of our province. It also ruins the livelihoods of thousands of Ontario archaeologists, Indigenous professionals by omitting their involvement and skills. We already don’t get paid enough - now, this bill is taking job opportunities away from us. This bill steals away the opportunity of knowledge and experience of multiple communities - and what does it really get us? How dire is the ‘provincial provisions’ needed that it can’t be put on hold to mitigate properties or study the history of a property for a year or so? Keep our province’s deep history a priority instead of ripping up our lands, our jobs, and our relationships to Indigenous communities for the sake of a ~hospital~. Work on the hospitals we have first, before upsetting more lands.
