The concept of ignoring the possibility of unearthing archeological findings will do untold damage to the future of our country. And I do say untold because we will be ignorant or our own history and it will be our own fault. This, of course, will have the greatest impact on Indigenous peoples who have been denied an ability to access their own heritage and history. Let alone Earth's history through findings such as fossils. Canada is the one world's leading source of academic history and our museums are a unique part of our identify that draw in tourists from across the globe. It adds to every Canadian child's sense of identity and pride and wonder of exploration for areas such as STEM. The impact of ignoring these finds could have have real financial impact for those who work in the archeological field, paleontology fields, and tourism. The benefit of this will be to speed up progress by a matter of weeks. You would be benefitting the industry of construction minimally, but harm other industries and our collective identity significantly. Canadians, Ontarians, and Indigenous peoples would all happily wait a few weeks or months to ensure that our unique heritage is maintained before we access other important social infrastructure.
