I strongly oppose the removal of the requirement for a comprehensive Environmental Assessment (EA) for the proposed landfill and recycling facility at Irish School Road near Dresden. The proposed landfill expansion is less than one kilometre from the heart of Dresden and close to schools, parks, and homes. Provincial guidelines typically require waste sites to be a minimum of three kilometres from a town for health and safety reasons—yet this project would override those protections. Dresden already has an active waste site in the region; there is no justifiable need to reactivate and massively expand a dormant site within town limits. Our community should not be turned into Ontario’s dumping ground. A full EA is not only warranted—it is essential.
