An EA is essential in this case to understand how the project aligns—or conflicts—with Ontario’s climate goals. A facility processing up to 6,000 tonnes of construction and demolition waste per day, and receiving up to 700 truckloads daily, will significantly increase emissions. The EA is the only process that considers cumulative impacts over time, including GHG emissions, habitat disruption, and air quality degradation.
