The bill grants unchecked power to Cabinet to override laws through “Special Economic Zones” and guts protections for endangered species by weakening habitat safeguards and eliminating science-based recovery planning. It also exempts destructive projects like the Eagle’s Nest mine from environmental review. These changes prioritize short-term corporate interests over long-term ecological health, public accountability, and truth in reconciliation. Ontario needs real economic solutions that respect the rule of law and protect nature — not this reckless rollback. I urge you to withdraw Bill 5 immediately.
