I would only be in favour of this proposal if, and only if, the government had no control over the list of protected species whatsoever. Control of that list should be given completely to a group of not-for-profit organizations that do not accept corporate or taxpayer-funded donations that already work in conservation and protection. These organizations should be vetted to ensure that they have no ties to any conflicting interests. There should be a separation of environmental protections and state to ensure that the environment has a fair chance in this increasingly greedy and corrupt society.
