I am truly dismayed to see the Ontario government is undermining Treaty rights, yet again.
I am just wondering what consultation this Bill has gone under with First Nations in Ontario?
This Bill is a pitiful attempt to override International Law and Free and Prior Informed Consent.
Additionally, what about municipalities? Should they not have a say in development over industry and developers?
Bill 5 offers a carte blanche and no accountability to industry - Ontario needs to be smart about where we build!
To secure food and water sovereignty for everyone in Ontario, it matters where we build and what ecosystems and soil systems we destroy. We need a government who is accountable to the land and water - not industry.
I do not support Bill 5.
Ontario is not for sale, right Dougie?
On top of that it is critical, more than ever, to protect biodiversity in Ontario. We can't just plant trees somewhere else and call it a day. Ontario had some incredibly unique bioregions and they need to be protected.
We need Ontario's government to step up. Plan for the future generations, not just for tomorrow's developers.
