I am writing as a concerned resident of Dresden, Ontario, in strong opposition to the proposed removal of environmental assessment requirements for the York1 waste disposal site under the Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act, 2025.

This proposal would have a direct and deeply concerning impact on my community. I live extremely close to the proposed waste site, and I am alarmed that a project of this scale could proceed without the thorough environmental oversight that Ontarians have come to expect and deserve.

Environmental assessments are not just red tape—they are vital tools for protecting public health, water quality, local ecosystems, and long-term land use planning. Removing this requirement undermines community trust, endangers local environments, and silences residents like me who will bear the consequences.

The people of Dresden deserve a transparent process that includes environmental accountability and meaningful public input. I urge the government to reconsider this part of the proposed legislation and uphold the environmental assessment requirement for the York1 waste site project.

Please do not sacrifice environmental protection and community well-being for short-term economic convenience. I respectfully request that you prioritize the health and future of Dresden and all Ontarians.
