This Act is a ruthless attempt by this government to grab power and destroy the environment, trample on Indigenous rights and destroy the rule of law in Ontario. The premier and cabinet can hand out exemptions like candy to any person or company they choose to create economic zones in any part of the province for any project and allows them to ignore any provincial or municipal law. There is no oversight or accountability. There must be much more oversight and it is so egregious to give too much power to any government. Schedule 7 circumvents consultation with Indigenous communities.
Schedule 10 will annihilate protections for endangered species. We have no right to destroy species that have been on this Earth longer than humans in order to feed your greed for money and power. Schedule 5 will lead to preferential treatment to wealthy companies who have bought your influence. Schedule 1 will stack the deck in favour of fossil-fuel technologies and toxic natural gas powered generation. You must stop imitating the greed and corruption of the current US Administration. This is a hundred times worse than Bill 66. This is Trump-style governance and it has no place in our province. How dare you propose such preposterous legislation! You should be ashamed. Your audacity, greed and stupidity is simply astounding!
