I am becoming more and more concerned with the rising numbers of billboards in Haliburton and other areas of rural Ontario served by secondary highways. I understand the pressure the Ministry is under with many applications but signs should not be allowed in non-built-up communities. Signs located out in 'the middle of nowhere' completely spoil the priceless visuals that make travel along our roadways so inviting to tourists. Signs should only be allowed within 2km of built up areas, or if there are to be signs allowed over a 50km distance, they should all be grouped together so that the complete landscape is not continually polluted with them. Things seem to be out of control in Haliburton and we were under the impression that there were currently NO LIMITS being enforced.
