The language of this Special Economic Zones Act gives too much power to provincial cabinet allowing the creation of zones anywhere and at any time. The minister can designate "trusted proponents" -- what is the definition of this term? Also "designated projects" - again, definition?

In these new "Special Economic Zones" all rules are cancelled? That's what it sounds like, and does not limit the ministry in any way.

This Act is written in terms of an Emergency act, but we are not in a state of emergency. We are having a trade re-negotiation with our largest trading partner, but we are not in enough of a crisis to sweep away the regulations that keep our province's spaces clean, green and unpolluted.
