Not everyone sees it but the York 1 dump proposal is going to affect a giant aquatic ecosystem, the Sydenham River. With the proposal of the new dump in Dresden it is not only going to affect the community of Dresden it is also going to majorly affect the sydenham river. If the dump does go through and we get a dump in Dresden, the dump is going to affect the beautiful ecosystem in the Sydenham river. The Sydenham river has some exotic species like the Salamander Mussel and the Salamander Mussel is found nowhere else in Canada. If the dump goes through it might deplete the population of Salamander mussels in Canada and it might also deplete the population of Rayed Bean that also lives in the Sydenham RIver. The dump is not just going to affect those species, it is going to affect many other animals like fish, mussels, snakes and turtles. With the dump affecting animals it is also affecting the Sydenham river which is a global significance since it is keeping these amazing species alive. Since all of these species are keeping the Sydenham river nice and healthy, with the dump the sydenham river plants will overgrow and the water will become disgusting because all of the grass pickerel, Spotted sucker and many more species are eating the plants. Also with the dump coming to Dresden the aquatic ecosystem will become unbalanced since all of the species are helping each other, not letting them overpopulate. So if some of these species deplete others will overpopulate and that will make the ecosystem unbalanced and an unbalanced ecosystem equals an unhealthy aquatic ecosystem. The dump is not just going to affect the aquatic ecosystem it is also going to affect the terrestrial ecosystem as well. Since we have many animals that eat aquatic species like coyotes, snakes, turtles and eagles with that those animals are going to lose a very important resource that they need to survive. That means that if coyotes have less to eat there is a possibility that some die of starvation which then can lead to an overpopulation of turkeys. Since coyotes are a natural predator of wild turkeys in Dresden Ontario and if coyotes aren’t there to stabilize the turkey population then the population of snails, frogs, salamanders and crayfish will deplete, since turkeys eat them. With just the York 1 dump proposal it will affect not one but two major ecosystems in Dresden. If the dump does go through, then Dresdens ecosystems will have an overpopulation of certain species since all of their predators have died because they have no food source. This York 1 dump proposal will not just affect the Sydenham river. It is also going to affect Molly’s Creek since Molly Creek’s is going to be right beside where York 1 wants to put the dump. Molly’s Creek also feeds off of the Sydenham river so the York 1 Proposal is not just going to affect Molly’s Creek and all the wildlife that lives in it. So is this really the spot we should be putting a dump in? Or is there enough space somewhere else where this dump isn’t going to affect any wildlife or any beautiful ecosystems in Dresden. Even if you don’t care about the ecosystems, the citizens of Dresden do and citizens of Dresden aren’t going to stop fighting until the York 1 dump moves somewhere else. Therefore citizens of Dresden are going to work together to fight York 1 on this proposal. So if you don’t like a big dump dumping on your town then let's take a stand and show York 1 what Dresden is made out of.
