Bill 5 is a bad deal for people who need housing- don't call this Bill in the name of economic recovery or anything like an economic benefit...having regulations such as doing environmental surveys, archaeological surveys pre-development were put in place because of past housing problems- to help people avoid having wet basements...why do people no matter how desperate they are for a house deserve to live in a house which has been built in an area which floods! Now the people have flood damage to repair and likely the municipality will be sued because the taxpayer believes the municipality is responsible for allowing houses to be built in a wetland. The province will not be on the hook to pay for damage, I one of the many taxpayers will be!
Get rid of the endangered species act-really is going to help build housing....do we really want to get rid of our birds whose environment is needed for them to survive! So no more song birds for Ontario and every other kind of bird...we got rid of where they nest and feed... Tourism for birding gone...! Why do I who live in Ontario deserve to not see birds anywhere!
Archaeological assessments not needed...we have come through 5-10 years of talk and concern about Truth and Reconciliation...Indigenous People thought they could count on us...I guess government policy does not have to count on it...Indigenous people have moveed about our province for at least 13000 years and hence, what might be found when the bulldozer barges around the land...how would you like to be the guy behind the wheel and starts to grade and find bones, and other such things...how would heorshe feel.
Don't call this Bill an economic recovery...It's poor planning..those who get a house as well as all of us will pay for these unthought out decisions in 10-15 years.Respect past decisions which supported the endangered species, archaeological and sensitive land studies. There was a reason for them. Don't remove endangered species , archaeological sites and environmentally sensitive areas. These items should not be tampered.
