The Council of the Corporation of the County of Prince Edward considered the proposed changes to the Economic Zones Act, 2025 contained within Bill 5: Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act, 2025 at a meeting on May 13, 2025.

We cannot support the proposed legislation in its current state as it will weaken local municipal authority and local effort to protect natural assets, local species at risk, First Nations rights to consultation on land us and we would request consultation with Ministry staff.
