I am deeply concerned that the Ford government is using the tariffs as an excuse to disregard environmental protections in Ontario. Degradation to the environment will not be reversible after the current crisis is over. We need plans that take into account indigenous rights and caring for the environment and it seems pretty clear that creating special economic zones where laws can be bypassed does neither. We need to look out for the future generations who need a stable natural environment, not just for ourselves in the next 1-3 years.
