I'm trying to find the right words to express my utter disdain and rage for this governments continued attempts to drag this province back into the stone age.
From the attack on bike lanes (environmentally friendly transportation), canceling windmills, attempting to hand over the greenbelt to developers (loss of critical farmlands and habitat) expanding the caged hunting permits (cruel and unnecessary), ramming through unnecessary highways (again through critical animal habitats and carving up the greenbelt AGAIN) and now attempting to loosen protections for endangered species, I'm seeing that when it comes to the environmen they are the very definition of "knowing the price of everything and the value of nothing".
I'm waiting to hear about the return of coal plants and smog days at this rate.
This act is heinously a basic corruption give away in plain sight, and absolutely is just to give this government and their cronies permission to run rough shod over hard-won environmental protections and skirt democratic planning
processes.
I have to ask the members of government that are fortunate enough to have a cottage to escape to, if they would be fine with their lake front oasis being destroyed and compromised for economic interests? (I HIGHLY doubt it)
Many of these species cannot just pack up and move on as people encroach. Eventually they run out of space hence why we should be expanding these protected areas and getting smarter with using existing infrastructure - not sprawling endlessly because it's easier or cheaper.
Do better!
