I object to the changes proposed by this act. I have a degree in natural environment and have conducted field work in Northern Ontario focusing. Endangered species are endangered for a reason, often because of human activity. The dwindling of our natural ecosystems should be cause for concern, as we are nothing without our environment. I object to the suggestion that the slow processing time for permits means we need to get rid of all protective legislation. Perhaps hire more people to do field work and inspections, that would speed up the time as well as protecting the species at risk. I object to the registration first approach and know this will cause irreparable harm. When people do work without a permit there are legal implications and can be fined. Without the threat of fines, more and more people will continue destroying habitats without fear of fines. Removing the legality in this case will encourage misuse. I object to removing "harass" as a concept from species protections. Certain species such as Sandpipers are extremely sensitive to harassment, moving their ancestral nesting places, and human contact. I object to removing the necessity of environmental assessments. I object to the concept of special economic zones that are exempt from all rules in favour of money, profit, and building. I object to the destruction of our environment and the carelessness that this act would allow.
