Bill 5 ignores treaty rights…

Bill 5 ignores treaty rights and the Indigenous nations' right to have free, prior and informed consent. This is a set-back in our path to reconciliation. It gives discretionary power to cabinet ministers to create Special Economic Zones where laws by-laws and regulations do not apply. This puts too much power in the hands of the cabinet and threatens the health and safety of those who work in these areas. We need laws and regulations for our protection.
