Regarding Bill 17 I have great concerns about the impact of this bill on our urban forests, parks and green infrastructure. While the intent is to accelerate housing, the bill will affect requirements for tree planting and preservation, it will limited the use of arborists and ecologists in environmental reviews, open up green spaces and woodlots to development, reduce funding for parks and tree programs by lowering developmental charges and most important, eliminate public consultation on key planning decisions. We do need more housing but how it is done and finding the balance while preserving our green spaces and trees for future generations.
