Commentaire
Thank you for the opportunity to comment on this posting. The County of Brant has provided comments in the form of an attached staff report approved by Council. To summarize the comments of staff, the following is also provided:
Support for Streamlining: The County of Brant supports a streamlined approach where certain zoning standards are provided as a percentage buffer to reduce the number of minor variance applications.
Alignment with County Direction: Staff note that this legislative direction aligns with the County's planned transition to a Community Planning Permit System (CPPS) by the end of 2026, which is also intended to provide more flexible standards and further streamline the development process.
Reduced Workload: This change is expected to reduce the staff workload associated with processing minor variance applications and Committee of Adjustment applications.
Safety Considerations: Staff noted a potential concern that a standard buffer might conflict with setbacks established for safety reasons, such as sight lines, and that current standards would need to provide enough of a buffer to prevent these issues.
Should any additional information be required, the County of Brant would be happy to have further discussions on this topic. Do not hesitate to reach out to us for additional input.
