As a resident of Ontario and a parent in a household of three, I’m deeply concerned about the proposed reduction in Blue Box recycling services. If service is scaled back—whether through reduced frequency, smaller collection containers, or limited material acceptance—it will make it far more difficult for families like mine to manage recyclables responsibly.

Our bin is already full after two weeks with the current service, so any reduction in size or capacity risks pushing recyclable materials straight into the landfill. That completely undermines the core goal of this program.

What troubles me most is the message these changes send to our children. As parents, we are working to raise environmentally conscious individuals. Weakening this system now sends the wrong signal about the importance of sustainability. We should be strengthening programs like the Blue Box, not retreating from them.

I urge the Ministry to maintain and expand accessible, reliable recycling services for all Ontarians—and to take seriously our shared responsibility for future generations.
