The proposal as stated is absolutely a backhanded and covert way to go around environmental regulations. It is insulting to the intelligence of the people who reside in this area.

Giving a private for profit company carte blanche with regard to taking water without oversight lacks reasonable judgement. If the Ministry of Natural Resources can authorize this wholesale greed on the part of the proponent without regard for the consequences to the land/water/habitat/people, why exactly do we have a Ministry of Natural Resources? I always thought the Ministry was there to protect our environment. How is the Ministry planning to mitigate the damage made by such water taking??? Look the other way? How thorough is the oversight by the Ministry? Given cutbacks, I would guess it has too few people to police this type of private company...is it easier to just let them have what they want? Isn't it already bad enough that Grey Bruce is home to some very large aggregate businesses that are a blemish on the beautiful rural landscape. If managing these companies is a balancing act, then take a moment to reflect on who else needs the water, who else takes the water, and what happens when we no longer have control over our water?
With such a crucial resource, there MUST be proper oversight, proper respect given to the needs of others before private businesses take what is not rightfully theirs, and a change to policy if this kind of serious use of a resource we all need is not properly vetted before being allowed.
