If Beach Area one is turned over to the Town of Wasaga Beach. Will the area where the Piping Plovers, an endangered species continue to be protected.
I am concerned about the protected dune area at the end of Beach Area One. This is an area that supports a variety of plant life, birds and animals. Will it contine to be a protected area by the province
The dunes also protect the mouth of the Nottawasaga River from storms, flooding and blowing sand.
The dune structures in the beach fore dunes, hind dunes and parabolic dunes protect the area from flooding, storms and blowing sand. Taking this natural drainage away, paving over them will create problems with where water will go.
There has been an indication that the Town would like to visit the idea of building a Harbour in the area. There is not the space in the Nottawasaga River for a Harbour without impacting boat traffic and the bay is to shallow to develop a Harbour. If you look back to the history, 1800's and 1900's, of Wasaga Beach, the idea of a Harbour was dismissed due to the changing River and Bay levels.
