As a resident of Wasaga…

As a resident of Wasaga Beach, I strongly oppose the proposal to remove parts of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park from provincial protection and transfer or sell them to the Town. This plan puts our cherished public beach at serious risk of being lost to private developers — forever.

The Province has managed this land responsibly for decades, protecting its natural and cultural heritage for the benefit of all Ontarians and visitors. In contrast, our local municipal government has a poor track record of managing such assets. Previous beachfront land deals have cost taxpayers dearly while enriching developers. Promises of revitalization have repeatedly fallen through, leaving residents to pay the price.

With council priorities changing every election, there is no stability or guarantee that this land will remain public. Handing over our most valuable public asset opens the door for it to be sold off piece by piece.

Wasaga Beach Provincial Park must remain under the care of the Province, which has the expertise, accountability, and long-standing commitment to preserve this irreplaceable shoreline for everyone — now and for future generations.

Please reject this transfer and keep Wasaga Beach public, protected, and out of the hands of private interests.
