Wasaga Beach Area 1, with its proximity and relationship to the overall Downtown revitalization and development plans (which cannot be stopped), makes sense for a portion to be run by the City. This could apply to Nancy Island as well. The buck should stop there. There is no justification in transferring Beach Area 2, New Wasaga or Allenwood Beaches to the City. Under provincial park assignment, the environment has and continues to be maintained, with the extent of trees, vegetation, sand erosion mitigation and water quality. We will loose this to mismanagement, risk sell-off to private entities and development if transfered to the City. The current natural character of these beaches has been to-date responsibly and well maintained by the Province. As Crownland, there is an assumed level of protection from mass development. The unique character and quality of these areas is renowned, nothing like it, and it is our responsibility to maintain it for generations to come. I petition that these remain Crown Land, and continue to belong to the citizens of Ontario, who access, value and cherish them greatly.
