Most of this is a TERRIBLE idea! The Town of Wasaga Beach's government simply can not be trusted with the preservation and enhancement of Beach Areas 1 & 2. While I have no objection to the Ministry of Tourism taking over the restoration and maintenance of the Nancy Island historical site, the rest of this proposal would allow the current town council to absolutely ravage the beach fronts creating long term disaster in exchange for the potential of a transitory financial gain through the development of what are now park properties. Our CAO has already been openly and enthusiastically talking about the sale and development of Beach (Park) Area 2 for more condos.
This MUST not be allowed to happen!
The Provincial Parks in Wasaga Beach have done the best they can with constant budget restrictions by successive disinterested governments which have made their success all but impossible. If the Provincial government simply acknowledged the importance of the Provincial Parks and funded them accordingly then NONE of this nonsense would be necessary!
