As an avid climber and nature lover, I have spent many pleasurable visits hiking and climbing in Devil's Glen. I have always found the climbing community to be highly respectful of the environment and natural landscape there, taking pains to keep environmental impacts as low as possible. In the rare cases when someone leaves garbage behind in a climbing area, it is usually picked up by the next person.
In recent years, the efforts of one deranged homeowner couple have been quite effective at discouraging climbers from visiting Devil's Glen. My more recent visits have saddened me at how few climbers were enjoying the area, and how much the safety of climbing has been compromised by the removal of climbing bolts, and attempts to make access difficult.
My hope is that officially including rock climbing as a recognized and sanctioned activity in the park will help restore the numbers of people enjoying this wonderful natural landscape. It would also be extremely valuable if a parking area could be added that serves the section of the park where rock climbing takes place.
