I strongly support the section of this proposal that would make rock climbing a recognized and permitted recreational activity at Devil's Glen PP. This would be a first step in increasing accessibility to rock climbing on public lands in Ontario, bringing it more in line with protocols in other Canadian jurisdictions. Rock climbers are fully capable of being responsible environmental stewards. Their activities have minimal impact compared to many other recreational users. Once the expectations and standards laid out in this proposal are clearly communicated, I expect that there will be widespread cooperation and compliance with the regulations that are put in place. Rock climbers will be highly motivated to self police in order to preserve their access to this highly limited and valuable resource.
