As a long time resident of Goulais River I would like to voice my OPPOSITION to this proposal.
This will not provide any benefit to the local community. The only benefit would be to the applicants' business financially.
This proposal is the CHEAPEST option available and as a result it is the one being selected. There are other methods available to dispose of sewage besides dumping it into a major waterway.
The Goulais River is a major waterway that many locals use for fishing, swimming and other forms of recreation.
The Goulais River is also a major fish spawning river.
Ultimately there will be leaching effects into the water table and aquifer.
Treated sewage will have "treatment" chemicals in the water at best.
Should there be just ONE incident (untreated release) this will have negative effect on all downstream waters and the environment. Continuous release of treated sewage will also have negative effects.
PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW THIS PROPOSAL TO PROCEED!
