I think the effect bill C-5 will have on environmental legislation should be reviewed or simply not approved at all.
The focus on development for our country will in turn cause our laws set in place to protect the environment to be dropped completely.
One such change is removing a multitude of animals from the endangered species list, carefully assembled over the years to protect our wildlife.
Many of these species are vital for our country’s countless habitats, and removing these animals from the endangered list when they are not even close to fully replenished is a bad idea.
This bill comes off to me as a means to make it easier to vacate these animals from their natural habitat in order to develop more roads and houses that otherwise would not be able to be built there.
Just one of these many animals that may be removed from the list plays an important role in our ecosystem, and were placed on the endangered list for a reason.
We cannot simply toss aside our obligation to protect Canada’s wildlife for our own monetary gain. It’s inhumane. Plain and simple.
